Tutto è nato da questo esercizio di genetica (è in inglese ma credo lo capiate tutti): Ole’s maternal grandfather, who was a baker and a heavy smoker, also has Alpha-1-Antitrypsin deficiency, but he has only suffered from lung problems (emphysema) after the age of 70. When his DNA was tested a mutation specific assay showed that he is only heterozygous for the Z-mutation. Further investigations showed that he is also heterozygous for the S-mutation. Is this consistent with ”locus heterogeneity” or ”allele heterogeneity”named ”MUTATIONAL HETEROGENEITY"
